Glass, Tiled or Hybrid Conservatory Roof: How to Choose

Compare Classic glass, Ultraroof tiled and Livinroof hybrid roof kits by daylight, room use and project requirements.

Decide how you want to use the room

Begin with the activities the room needs to support. A bright garden-facing seating area and a space used for screens or working have different daylight priorities. Note the direction the room faces, where direct sun falls and which neighbouring rooms receive light through it. These observations are more useful than choosing a roof from an exterior photograph alone.

Classic glass: prioritise overhead light

A Classic glass roof is a starting point when retaining a glazed roof appearance is important. Discuss glazing options and ventilation alongside the roof layout. Glass specification matters, and the room's overall comfort also depends on its walls, windows, heating and shading. Request the specification for the proposed roof rather than assuming every glazed design behaves the same way.

Ultraroof and Livinroof: plan the light deliberately

Ultraroof is the tiled roof option in our range; Livinroof combines solid roof areas with glazing. Consider where roof glazing would benefit the room and where a solid ceiling would help with furniture placement or glare. Draw your dining table, seating and work area on the floor plan. Ask the designer to relate the roof layout to that plan before you approve it.

Compare complete proposals

Ask for like-for-like drawings and clear supply schedules for your shortlisted systems. Have the existing structure assessed, and confirm any project-specific approvals with the appropriate professionals. A roof swap can change loads and construction details, so appearance alone is not a suitability check. Our product pages explain the ranges; the final choice should follow a site assessment and an agreed roof design.
